The Sudanese Prime Minister, Abdullah Hamdouk, has arrived in the city of “Kauda”, the stronghold of the SPLM-N, to hold talks with the movement’s leader, Abdul Aziz Al-Helou, on achieving peace in the two areas.

It’s the first visit of its kind for a senior Sudanese official in the past years, as the region remained completely cut off from other Sudanese cities due to its control by SPLM- N al-Hilu.

Meanwhile, in a tweet , Hamddock described the visit as historic and important, referring to it as a response to an invitation he received from Commander Abdulaziz Al-Helou, saying it will not be the last of its kind.

This is a great opportunity to assure our people in Kauda and all Sudanese that the transitional government strives to achieve a comprehensive and just peace, and that it pays great attention to all regions of Sudan, especially the war-affected areas that have been marginalized for decades,” he added.

He stressed that the government understands the suffering and injustice that population in Kauda endured, adding that the government appreciates the struggle of the people of Kauda to build a just Sudan that can accommodate all Sudanese with their diversity and differences.

Let me say it wholeheartedly and sincerely to our people in Kauda that despite the policies of marginalization and absenteeism of the ousted regime, you did not depart from our minds and hearts. ” he further added.

Hamdouk stressed that peace is a duty and a priority and will not be ignored, saying that the Sudanese people have suffered greatly and the revolution will not be complete unless the grievances of those who were systematically targeted by the previous regime are taken into consideration.

He pointed out that peace will not be achieved unless the government and the people commit to finding meaningful and fair solutions to the conflict.

“I personally look forward to a new era of hope and solidarity among all segments of the Sudanese people based on principles of the glorious December revolution.” The prime minister concluded.
