The Sudanese Armed Forces announced today, Wednesday announced that they managed to quell a mutiny carried out by the operations Department of the Security and Intelligence services . Meanwhile SAF revealed that two were killed and four others wounded, including two officers during the counter-insurgency.

It has been reported that the armed forces opened fire on the vicinity of the Intelligence Operations Command headquarters in the Riyadh neighborhood of Khartoum at dawn today (Wednesday), as well as the building in the Suba suburb ,before storming and controlling the two buildings.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan said this morning that the armed forces will not allow any coup to abort the revolution of the Sudanese people.

In a televised statement, accompanied by the Prime Minister, Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk, Al-Burhan said “Our forces will remain coherent behind the tasks of the transitional period until it reaches its end.”

Al-Burhan confirmed that calm has returned to Khartoum and all regions that have been strained, adding that Khartoum Airport has also been reopened for International.

For his part, Hamdock said the incident that took place on Tuesday evening, was aimed at blocking the road to building a smooth democracy.

“Our armed forces were able to thwart that attempt … We trust the Sudanese army to maintain security.” The prime mister added.

By Tuesday night, the armed forces had announced the control of the headquarters of the Intelligence Agency’s operations in Kafoury neighborhood in suburb of Khartoum, after violent clashes with heavy machine between the army and the mutineers.
