The Sudanese Minister of Health, Dr. Akram Al-Tom, affirmed that his ministry is working in full harmony with the ministries of finance and economic planning, industry and trade, and the Bank of Sudan, adding
that their efforts are joining forces to provide medicines to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic and to improve the health situation in the country.

Over the past few days, many media outlets reported that there is a crisis between the Ministry of Health and Finance, due to the lack of most medicinal items that the Ministry of Health attributed to the Ministry of Finance’s lack of commitment to pay the medicine bill since December 2019.

Crisis between the two ministries worsened recently after leakage of information from the Minister of Health,  accusing the Finance Ministry of squandering funds meant for fighting coronavirus. “The funds  will be used to improve the health situation in the country, mainly the  seasonal diseases such as cholera and dengue that appear in some cases in the country”Dr. Akram  said .

Al-Tom pointed out that it is the government’s duty to intervene to solve any health problem that arises in order not to exacerbate and worsen the situation, using all resources, including donor money.
