July 2, 2020 (Khartoum) The Sudanese Prime Minister, Dr. AbdullahHamdouk,  has said  that the transitional  government welcomes  theannouncement of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Sudan   North, led by Abdel Aziz Al Helou, to extend the cessation of hostilities for another seven months, starting from July 1 to the end of January 2021, in all areas under the movement’s control.

Earlier Wednesday, commander Abdelaziz Alhilo ,ordered the SPLM units to observe and respect the declaration, and to refrain from any hostile actions, except in cases of self-defense and the protection of
civilians.

The announcement of ceasefire extension is a goodwill gesture towards a peaceful solution to the conflict in Sudan, and an opportunity for the success of the ongoing peace talks in Juba, South Sudan.

In a statement on Wednesday, Hamdok asserted, the government’s eagerness to bring peace and end suffering in conflict areas.

” Peace will avail an opportunaty  to  comrades in the forces of armed struggle as effective forces that contribute with us in accomplishing all the tasks of the transitional period in order to achieve the hopes
and aspirations of the Sudanese people” Hamdouk concluded” .
