August 8, 2020 (Khartoum) The Washington Post has revealed that the
administration of US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State
Mike Pompeo are facing tremendous pressure in order to save the
transitional government from collapse, by accelerating the removal of Sudan’s name from the list of State sponsor of terrorism.

The widely read American newspaper, added  that officials in the US government and Congress called on the Trump administration to speed up
ratification  of the settlement deal for the bombing of the embassies
of Nairobi and Tanzania to remove the country’s name from the list of
terrorism, as it is the only way to save the transitional government
and distance the country from the specter of a return of authoritarian
regimes.

Sudan offered to pay $335 million in compensation, including $100
million for the foreign nationals. That works out to at least $3
million for the Americans, but just $400,000 for the noncitizens. Many
of them have sued Sudan in U.S. courts, where they theoretically could
be awarded more. But Sudan has no assets in the United States, and
there is no guarantee they could collect

Edith Bartley, a spokeswoman for the families of Americans killed in
Nairobi whose father and brother were killed in the bombing, said U.S.
national security interests could be compromised if the agreement is
not endorsed and Sudan falls into chaos.

“Sudan’s transitional government is in danger of collapse amid
economic and political instability, widespread poverty and hunger, and
the coronavirus pandemic. An assassination attempt was made in March
against Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdouk”  Bartley concluded.
