September 9, 2020 WFP and UNHCR have committed to provide food and shelter for three months to those affected by the torrents and floods in the city of El-Farsous, East Darfur.
More than 3,500 families were affected by torrential waters and floods that struck the city of El-Farsous in mid-August, as more than 8,000 homes and 69 government institutions collapsed in the locality,
forcing most of the city’s families to flee from their homes to high places.
However , thousands of people are now living in the open in a dire condition without shelter .
The Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid in East Darfur State, Mohamed Ahmed, told Darfur 24 that relief for the people of Al-Firdous includes food and non food items, adding that the distribution will start on the first of September..
“UNHCR and WFP will be providing food and non-food items to 2785 households for three consecutive months” HAC commissioner concluded.
