Sudan armed group attacks Darfur village, killing at least 7



A Sudanese paramilitary group attacked civilians in village of Al Tawil 107 kilometers south of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state , killing at least seven people and wounding 20 more.

The executive director of Gereida locality, Hassan Ibrahim Adam, told Darfur 24 that the attack resulted in the killing and wounding of about 30 on both sides.

Hassan added that the attack on the area came against the background of the killing of a child from the Rizeigat tribe , at the hands of gunmen from the Fallata tribe, the day before in the Dito area, northeast of Gereida, and the matter developed into an attack on the village of Al-Tawil today.

Meanwhile ,one of the leaders of the area, Abd al-Rahman Othman, told Darfur 24 that the attack left 7 dead and 22 wounded, in addition to burning a number of homes and shops.

According to local sources, the situation has now returned to normal following dispatch of reinforcement from the State capital.
