Dozens of high school students in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, protested Thursday against the high cost of living and the lack of bread in several neighborhoods of the city.

The protesting students arrived at the headquarters of the North Darfur government, chanting slogans and carrying banners ,calling on the government to intervene to address  bread crisis and hike of consumer goods.

A government official in  North Darfur told Darfur 24 that the students ’protest was triggered by  increase in the price of bread.
Citizens from El Fasher told Darfur 24 that the price of commercial bread rose to 15 pounds in light of the lack of subsidized bread.
