On Friday, the former premises of the African Union and United Nations mission in Darfur UNAMID in Menawashei, was subjected to looting and vandalism by the citizens of the area.
The mission handed over its premises in Manawashe to the Sudanese government on February 24.
State government said the compound would allocated to establish a university college for community development..
Commissioner of South Darfur Police, Major General Ali Hassab Al Rasoul, said groups of Manwashi and Mershing residents infiltrated to the mission premises and looted assets, but he said that the government forces took control of the situation and managed to arrest some of those looters.
