Darfur 24- Report

For a second consecutive day, fighting continued between the Arabs and Masalit in West Darfur amid an absence of government authorities. On both sides scores  were killed and injured. Livestock was stolen, and hundreds of people fled from their homes.

A war that the two sides seem to have prepared for it  this time around  in a different way ,and by a different tactic, using weapons that may not be available to the Sudanese government forces.

Reason for the war

Although everything in El Geneina predicts that the region is on the brink of a fierce war due to the fragility of security and the societal structure based on tribalism first, in addition to the great tribal tension that began to appear in the repeated attacks and attacks due to tribe and gender.

In general, according to the follow-ups in Darfur 24, the cause of the problem this time is due to the killing of two Masalit people on the road separating the residential area of the Arab tribes and the Masalit tribe last Saturday night, and the incident could have been criminal and the competent authorities would initiate the necessary procedures to arrest the perpetrators.

Darfur 24 correspondent says that some people took advantage of the incident, and the mobilization began , while people from both tribe started beat  drums of war with indiscriminate gunfire in a heavy manner.

The Demographic map

It seems that the housing structure in the entire city of El Geneina is a main catalyst for the growth of the phenomenon of racism and tribalism, and according to the follow-ups of Darfur 24 that the neighborhoods of the aljabal , which witnesses the fighting, seems to have been planned on a tribal basis.

Absence of authorities

Yesterday morning , the tribal fighting broke out between Arabs and Masalit tribes in the capital of west Darfur state with a complete absence of government authorities from the scene, despite the  presence of three thousand government forces in the town of El-Geneina.

Casualties

An hour after the start of the fighting, which lasted for more than 10 hours, social media began to be filled with names and pictures of the victims and the numbers of the wounded, amid the absence of official assurances from the government or the leaders of the two parties whom Darfur 24 tried to communicate with in vain, but according to unofficial leaks, the victims numbered more than 12 dead and dozens of wounded.

Generally speaking, the hard day ended for citizens who believe that they are under the rule of a state that protects them from the tyranny of the oppressor, but they were surprised because they live in an area where the protection of the tribe and self-defense requires the power of personal arms, at a time when speculation indicates that the coming days will be the most difficult, and that the war Inevitably persistent
