Hundreds of students in Nyala city schools took to the streets on Sunday protesting against the power cuts and the thirst crisis in the city.

Meanwhile, police forces used tear gas to disperse the angry demonstrators in Sudan’s second largest city.

Student, Khaled Muhammad Al-Rahma, told Darfur 24 that the power cuts prompted students to demonstrate in the city to demand the restoration of power to the city.

The Turkish company which provides electricity services to five major cities in Darfur, has cut off power ten days ago from all the major cities, leaving people in a complete blackout. .
