Sudanese prime minister Dr. Abdallah Hamdouk, issued a decree today Sunday May 2, 2021 appointing Minni Ako Minawi as governor of the Great Darfur region.
The decision was based on Juba Peace Agreement which was signed on October 2, 2020, between the transitional government, some armed movements and the revolutionary front.
The appointment of the former rebel leader came seven months after the juba peace agreement was signed and more than two months after the formation of the new government, which included elements from the parties to the peace process.
