Darfur 24-Khartoum

A state security report revealed an increase in the rate of criminal activity in Khartoum state, which amounted to 21% for the month of March, compared to February of this year.

The number of crimes, according to the report, of which “Darfur 24” obtained a copy, reached 24,734 crimes during the month of March..

The report identified the most major crimes; premeditated murder, car thefts, looting, night robberies and moral crimes. The report indicated that most car thefts are motivated by other criminal activities.

The report pointed to the increase of gangs and outlaw groups within the state of Khartoum, and some of them fortified themselves in closed areas. The report expected the emergence of coordination relations between these groups to exchange information.

The report attributed this increase to the deteriorating economic conditions with the spread of illegal housing in the outskirts.
