July 28, 2021 (El-Geneina)  An armed group affiliated with one of the armed struggle movements in El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur, kidnapped the director of the anti-smuggling police and detained him at the movement’s premises  in the state.

Sources told Darfur 24 that the director of the anti-smuggling police, Colonel Jaafar Fadl al-Mawla, and a force of the security services began on Wednesday to carry out a campaign to arrest the illegal cars driving on the roads of El Geneina.

As part of the campaign’s implementation, verbal altercations occurred between one of the military leaders of the Sudanese Alliance Movement led by the Governor of West Darfur, Khamis Abkar, and the commander of the anti-smuggling forces, which developed into a fistfight, after which the director of anti-smuggling in the state was kidnapped and detained at the headquarters of the coalition forces for about an hour and a half before being released

West Darfur Police Director Major General Sayed Ahmed Suleiman said in statements after the state security committee meeting that the meeting decided to expel armed struggle movements from the city of El Geneina, and to continue the campaign to combat negative phenomena and prevent unlicensed cars.
