Khartoum, May 12(Darfur24) The official spokesman for the Defense
Committee for the Detainees of Al-Dium Al-Sharqiah, lawyer Islam Shams
Al-Din, revealed that 9 detainees have been transferred to Al-Huda
Prison in Omdurman, while the criminal investigations are keeping the
detainee Hamza Saleh in its headquarters so far.

Islam said in an interview with “Darfur 24” that the defense team,
consisting of 9 lawyers, is not aware of the reasons for the detention
of Hamza Saleh, but it is likely that the rest of the detainees will
be transferred to Al-Huda Prison in order to reduce the frequent visit
of their families to the headquarters of the criminal investigations,
given its distance from the capital, Khartoum. .

Referring to the suffering of the detainees, which he described as
cruel and bitter during the first days of their detention, as they
were beaten, had their hair shaved, sat on the ground, humiliated
them, and leveled arbitrary charges against them, such as: “You are
the ones who killed the sergeant of military intelligence, and we will
not leave you alone” as a kind of Exercising psychological pressure,
knowing that they are still young and some of them have not exceeded
the age of (20) years, yet they face all these challenges, in addition
to providing very poor food for long periods.

Lawyer Revealed that the deterioration of the health condition of the
detainee, “Mo’men Saeed, given that he had previously suffered from
shortness of breath, the crisis, and the poor conditions in the prison
exacerbated his illness. There is also the detainee Swar al-Zahab Abu
al-Azaim, who had fractures in his ribs as a result of being tortured
after his arrest.

Pointing out that, according to what the families of the detainees
confirmed to them after their visit in prison, their conditions are
better than before, as they were released from individual guards and
all were included in a group guard.
Lawyer Shams El-Din believes that the main reason behind the arrest
of the group is their participation in the fact that they are all
young people active in the revolutionary movement, which is now led by
the street, rejecting the military coup on the 25th of last October,
and some of them join the field committees responsible for organizing
the processions.
He says: Focus was placed on the perpetrators in the eastern Al-Dium
area, and then arrested them. However, he confirms that all the
detainees have nothing to do with the killing of the sergeant in
Military Intelligence. He explained that the prosecution was unable to
charge the detainees directly due to its failure to find evidence
against them, pointing out that there is an open report in which the
brother of the dead man was reported under Articles 21/130 of willful
killing and criminal involvement, saying that the correct procedure is
to file charges and inform the accused of the right to appeal within
the legally specified period. It is 7days, or the report is written
off for lack of sufficient evidence, and they are released or charges
are brought, and the report is delivered to the court, and this never
happened.
Revealing that the commission submitted 9 requests to the Criminal
Investigation Prosecution to meet with their clients, all of which
were rejected, despite the fact that the law stipulates that the
accused has the right to meet with his lawyer and that what happened
is contrary to the law and the constitutional document as well. And he
continues: “They asked us to bring a statement from the families of
the accused by proxy, and we did. Despite that, all requests were
rejected, and the commission has not been able to meet with its
clients so far.

He added: The criminal investigations also rejected the commission’s
request to see the investigation reports, autopsy reports, Ornik (8)
and the graph. He said that the authority submitted a request to
