El-Geneina, October 5(Darfur24) The World Food Program WFP said on Wednesday, that it will conduct an investigation into an emergency helicopter landing in Karenak locality, West Darfur.

 

On Tuesday, West Darfur  state authorities confirmed that a World Food Program helicopter had made an emergency landing on a farm with 7 people on board, including two foreigners.

The organization’s official spokeswoman,Leni Kinzli, said today, in an exclusive statement to (Darfur 24), that WFP chartered  helicopter  made an emergency landing on Tuesday, 2 kilometers from El Geneina airport, and did not fall.

 

She explained that the helicopter, which had 5 passengers and two crew on board, was on a flight from El Geneina Airport to Zalingei, and a technical malfunction occurred shortly after take-off so the captain decided to make an emergency landing in a cellular area in the locality of Kirink,  adding  that all passengers were rescued to El Geneina.

 

She explained that WFP conducts  an investigation in such cases to find out the causes of the accident
