El-geneina, June 14( Darfur 24) Media outlets and social media activists have circulated news of the assassination of West Darfur governor, khamis Abdallah Abakar ،after being arrested by forces presumably affiliated to the rapid support forces (RSF)
The video clip which went viral on social media, showed apprehension of the governor of West Darfur, khamis Abdallah by armed men who dropped him off from a four wheel drive vehicle , while he was wearing civilian clothes, bullet proof vest and a helmet, then they led him into a room .
The arrest and assassination of khamis comes at the backdrop of an interview with Alhadath satellite TV channel , where he accused RSF and the Arab militia of being behind the massacre of El-geneina city in West Darfur..
El-Geneina city in West Darfur, has been a scene of deadly clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces as well as Arab tribes and Masalit.
The conflict in El-Geneina , has left over one thousand dead, nearly 3 thousands injured and tens of thousands displaced.
The West Darfur doctors union, had earlier described the atrocities in El-Geneina as a repetition of 1994 genocide in the state of Rwanda.
