El-geneina, June 31(Khartoum)A tribal community mechanism has succeeded to convince the deputy governor of West Darfur state to assume his task as acting governor to run affairs of the state.
The deputy governor, Tigani Altahir Karshoom had earlier refused similar initiative to take over the constitutional post , following the brutal assassination of West Darfur governor, Khamis Abakar on June 14.
Karshoom accepted the post after negotiation lasted for more than a week brokered by local community leaders and approved by both the Sudanese army and the RSF.
The document was signed by community leaders, doctors union, religious leaders, humanitarian actors and the national intelligence.
Signatories have pledged to assist the acting governor to enable him take the war-torn state to the shores of safety..
