El-Gadarif, August 9(Darfur 24) The acting governor of El-Gadarif state, Mohamed Abdulrahman Mahgoub issued emergency decree Tuesday, banning public gatherings, unless prior permission is granted from the state security Authority.

Two days ago, protesters took to the streets in the city of El-Gadarif, demanding abolishment of arrest warrant issued against a number of leading members of the former Salvation regime allegedly subsistent in the city.

The decree stipulates closure of borders and crossing points with neighboring countries as well as barring foreigners from entering the country.

According to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) , the decree was issued inline with the exceptional circumstances of the country and preservation of the State residents’ safety and security.
