January 9, 2025 Tawila: Darfur 24 The Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdul-Wahid Mohamed Nour, and the Sudan Liberation Assembly Forces led by Al-Tahir Hajar, are set to launch Neutral Military Force to protect civilians including humanitarian workers, secure humanitarian and commercial convoys, and facilitate the movement of those fleeing the war.

Informed sources told “Darfur 24” that Tawila area, about 60 km west of El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, is witnessing the final arrangements for the inauguration of this force, amidst a public presence.

A senior source in the Sudan Liberation Assembly confirmed to “Darfur 24” that this step comes within the framework of the two movements’ commitment to national duty and revolutionary responsibility, clarifying that the stage requires unifying efforts to protect civilians from threats imposed by the current war.

He pointed out that those affected by the war in North Darfur are living in tragic conditions due to the war, therefore their ethical duty compels them to work to open safe corridors for the delivery of aid and facilitate the movement of those fleeing.

In the same context, a source close to the Civilian Authority affiliated with the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Nour confirmed to “Darfur 24” that all arrangements have been completed to launch a neutral force from the two movements, today, Thursday, to protect civilians.

Last October, the two Movements announced the establishment of a military and political alliance, and the formation of a neutral force to protect civilians, secure humanitarian convoys, and facilitate the movement of those fleeing.
