January 9, 2025 El-Fasher: Darfur 24 Three civilians were killed and others injured, today, Thursday, in new artillery shelling by the Rapid Support Forces on the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, according to eyewitnesses.
The witnesses told “Darfur 24” that the artillery shelling launched by the Rapid Support Forces, today, Thursday, targeted El-Mawashi market and the residential neighborhoods surrounding it, which resulted in immediate death of two persons and injury of others who were transferred to the Medical Corps, where one of them died of his wounds.
El-Fasher witnessed relative calm on Wednesday compared to previous days.
The Rapid Support Forces have been launching attacks on El-Fasher since May 10, in an attempt to seize the last stronghold of the Army in Darfur, but the Army and its allies from the Armed Movements are still defending the city.
The ongoing war between the warring parties in El-Fasher has forced thousands of civilians to seek refuge in Jebel Marra and the camps surrounding the city in search of security. Many others fled to neighboring countries such as Chad, Libya, and Uganda.
