January 16, 2025 Golo – Darfur24 Sources confirmed to “Darfur24” that Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdul-Wahid Nur arrested 10 men and 5 women last week from the IDPs who fled from El-Fasher to Golo on charges of spying for RSF.
At the same time, Walid Tango, the Military Spokesperson for the Movement in Golo, denied that the Movement’s Intelligence had arrested any displaced persons.
Tango told “Darfur24” that “the Movement has not detained any citizen in Golo or any other areas under its control on charges of spying for any party in the war or any war-related charges. Instead, it seeks to ensure security through routine security procedures to achieve stability and reassurance for citizens and displaced persons who sought refuge in its areas for security.”
The Civil Administration of the Movement in Golo had imposed a curfew last week, prohibiting citizens from moving around Golo from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. , and urged citizens to stay in their homes during curfew hours for security reasons.
Hanem Abdul-Manan, a falafel seller in Golo market, explained that the curfew decision caused a decline in her income, especially since she used to work late into the evening, and now closes her shop before 6 p.m. during peak hours.
She confirmed that the Movement’s Intelligence operates even during daylight hours, as they detained several suspects last week and took them to their offices without releasing them.
A vendor in Golo market told “Darfur24” that they were forced to close their shops earlier than the curfew order’s specified time, while their work requires them to be present during the evening when people gather.
