January 25, 2025 Nairobi – Darfur24 Three sources revealed on Saturday that RSF transferred 327 Army Officers from detention centers in the capital Khartoum to Nyala, the capital of South Darfur.

RSF had detained hundreds of officers in Khartoum and captured others in battles, holding them in detention centers located in Riyadh neighborhood, Elmadina-Elriyadiya south of the Capital, and Soba Prison east of Khartoum.

A source within RSF in Nyala told “Darfur24” that “the prisoners who arrived in Nyala are high-ranking officers, totaling 327 prisoners, who were held in Riyadh neighborhood,Elmadina-Elriyadiya , and Soba Central Prison.”

The source indicated that these prisoners were gathered and transported via Jabal Awliya Bridge south of Khartoum in three large trucks under tight security measures to Kober Prison in Karrari neighborhood south of Nyala.

The source reported that RSF allocated eight combat vehicles to guard the prison and prevent citizens from approaching nearby streets.

The source mentioned that several prisoners died during the transfer from Khartoum to Darfur, and three more died inside the prison after arriving Nyala.

This account matched with another source who told “Darfur24” that the prisoners reached Nyala after a journey of over two weeks through Jabrat-El-Sheikh in North Kordofan to Darfur.

The source revealed that more than 55 prisoners from 21st Infantry Division in Zalingei, Central Darfur State, and 15th Infantry Division in Geneina, West Darfur, are held in RSF detention centers in Nyala.

The source noted that RSF Commander in Nyala and Operations Officer in Babanusa, Saleh Al-Futi, transferred dozens of military prisoners from West Kordofan to Nyala earlier last year.

A previous RSF source in Nyala told “Darfur24” that the number of civilian detainees exceeds 400, including former military personnel and some civilians cooperating with the Sudanese Army.

RSF holds detainees in several locations, including Malaria Control Administration, Judicial Authority, the Prosecutor’s Office, General Intelligence Service Headquarters, and Darfur Crimes Court Headquarters in Elmataar neighborhood.

RSF is expected to present the detainees to the courts after forming the Judicial Authority, as preparations have begun to establish the Public Prosecution in South Darfur, which has been under RSF control since October 2023.
