Kadugli, February 4(Darfur 24) The number of victims of the attack by SPLM-N on the city of Kadugli has risen to 44 people, including a number of soldiers, in addition to 24 seriously injured people, according to a source in the city.

The city of Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan State, was subjected to heavy shelling on Monday by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement also known as SPLM-N, in one of the most violent attacks witnessed by the city in recent times.

Sources told Darfur 24 that the attack took place at around 10 am from the eastern direction of the city, targeting residential neighborhoods and the city’s large market.

For his part, Asim Ahmed, a volunteer in the Kadugli emergency rooms, told Darfur 24 that between 9 and 10 artillery shells fell inside the neighborhoods of Kadugli, causing widespread destruction and significant human losses, according to his description.

The strikes were concentrated on the northeastern side of the market, near the Kamboni schools, an area known for its high population density due to its being a vital commercial center.

Assem confirmed that the death toll had risen to 44 people as of this morning, including a number of military personnel, while 24 others were seriously injured, some in critical condition requiring urgent medical intervention.

He pointed out that most of the victims were civilians who were in the open area near the market at the time of the bombing.
