A medical source in Zamzam camp for displacedpeople, North Darfur, confirmed on Tuesday that 5 civilians were killed and 30 others were injured, following the battles that broke out between the Rapid Support Forces, the Joint Force and the Popular Resistance in the camp.

The Rapid Support Forces RSF had launched fierce attack on Zamzam camp near El Fasher, where they clashed with a force affiliated with the Sudan Liberation Forces Gathering Movement 700 meters from the camp, according to sources and circulated video clips on social media.

A medical source told Darfur24 that the number of civilian casualties reached 5 dead and 30 injured, most of whom were hit by stray bullets, causing fire in the camp market.

Darfur24 sources in Zamzam camp said that the Rapid Support Forces had carried out fierce attack on the camp, from the southern and eastern axis.

RSF fighters posted videos on social media showing vehicles and fighters from the Rapid Support Forces inside the Sudan Liberation Forces Gathering headquarters at the eastern entrance to the camp, with columns of smoke rising.

In the videos, the soldiers talk about their control of a combat vehicle with a dual cannon, indicating that they penetrated deep into the camp and chased the militants from it.

For his part, one of the camp’s civil leaders, who preferred to remain anonymous, told “Darfur 24” that the popular resistance in the camp was able to repel the Rapid Support Forces attack that took place on Tuesday.

He pointed out that the attack left a large number of dead and wounded among civilians and the destruction of a number of homes that are being counted after repelling the attack, without further information.

Mini Arko Minawi, the governor of Darfur, also confirmed that Zamzam camp was attacked by the Rapid Support Forces, indicating on “X” that the attack is the tenth against the camp, which is crowded with old and new displaced people, as he described it.

He added, “We demand that the United Nations and the African Union direct the countries supporting this terrorism and genocide to stop.”
