The Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) in North Darfur State revealed today, Tuesday, the occurrence of widespread violations among civilians, including killing and rape, as a result of the attacks launched by the Rapid Support Forces(RSF) and allied militias during the past few days on villages in the western countryside of El Fasher.
The State Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid, Abbas Youssef, said in a briefing to humanitarian organizations on the sidelines of the meeting of water partners in the state, that the attacks launched by the RSF on the Shagra area and neighboring villages west of El Fasher since January 23, resulted in the killing of dozens of citizens and cases of rape, in addition to the looting and burning of dozens of villages, which forced residents to flee in search of safety.
Youssef explained that the number of death occured in the area according to the statements of the civil administration in the western countryside rose to about 30 people, and the rape of 4 women, in addition to other violations against citizens, including the elderly.
Youssef added that the attacks on the Shagra area and the neighboring villages also caused widespread destruction of agricultural crops, in addition to burning entire villages, forcing more than 50,000 families to be forcibly displaced and now living in tragic conditions in El Fasher.
For his part, Mayor Jamil Allah Ibrahim Jamil Allah, Mayor of Kusa Omdiya, confirmed that widespread violations occurred among civilians as a result of the attacks by the Rapid Support Forces and allied militias on villages in the western countryside of El Fasher.
Jamil said in a statement to Darfur 24 that the death toll among civilians as a result of the attacks was 30 people, while 4 women were raped, in addition to burning all villages in the Shagra area and Umm Hajalij and more than 7 villages in the Qarni Omdiya, in addition to destroying all agricultural crops, which forced hundreds of families to flee to El Fasher.
