Limited military clashes erupted on Monday between the joint force and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) near the Jarjira area in North Darfur State, at a time when the area is witnessing unprecedented troops deployment amid fears of possible battles.

Jarjira is considered the buffer zone between the joint force stationed to the north in the Al-Tina area, which is located in the far northwest of North Darfur State, opposite the border with Chad. While the Rapid Support Forces are deployed to the south on the outskirts of the city of Kulbus in West Darfur State.

A source told Darfur24 that a reconnaissance force affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces approached one of the joint force’s bases about 21 km north of the city of Kulbus on Monday, which led to violent clashes.

He pointed out that the clashes did not last long, although the sound of heavy artillery was heard inside the city of Kulbus, which caused panic among the citizens.

Information obtained by Darfur 24 indicates that the two sides of the Sudanese war have mobilized huge forces in preparation for the outbreak of battles in the border strip with Chad, opposite the borders with North and West Darfur states.

Last February, unknown drones launched raids on the city of Tina, killing and wounding members of the joint force following celebrations for the graduation of a batch of Sudanese coalition forces, one of the components of the joint force.

While in early January, warplanes carried out raids on the city of Kulbus, 170 km north of the city of El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur state, with no information about casualties.
