Khartoum , April 20(Darfur 24)
Three sources unveiled to Darfur24 on Sunday that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have embarked on recruitment and training operations inside South Darfur State and in a neighboring country, in preparation for building a new professional army to pave the way for abandoning tribal mobilization.
Recently, the RSF has relied heavily on fighters mobilized by local community leaders in Darfur and Kordofan, as well as armed groups such as the Third Front – Tamazuj, led by Qureshi Ali.
Sources told Darfur 24 that large groups of young men “flowed to Nyala, South Darfur, to join RSF.”
They indicated that these groups were mobilized by former Rapid Support Forces personnel from the areas of Umm Dafuq, Kabar, Tullus, Kass, and the towns of Balabil, before heading to Nyala for training.
They reported that the new recruits are staying at government institutions in Nyala, such as the guest house and the educational rehabilitation premises affiliated with the Ministry of Education, in preparation for their transfer to training camps in Umm al-Qura, Wadi Ander, Fasha mountains in the Balil locality, and the Domaya suburb west of Nyala.
One source explained that the RSF is in a process of abanding the tribal mobilization for recruiting fighters,” due to their lack of discipline and failure to obey orders from field commanders.
He said that the forces have resorted to recruiting young men and training them on modern weapons before sending them to combat zones, with the aim of building a new, professional army.
On April 2, the Rapid Support Forces stated that a second commander Its forces, led by Abdel Rahim Dagalo, witnessed the graduation of a new batch of 20,000 soldiers, as demonstrated in a video clip from South Darfur State.
Other sources reported that the Rapid Support Forces transported recruits to a neighboring country via Nyala International Airport, where they are being trained on advanced weapons and drones.
One of the soldiers who received training in this country told Darfur 24 that they received advanced training there before being dispatched via the desert axis.
Since the beginning of the year, the Rapid Support Forces have expanded their deployment into the desert, where they have been able to control vital areas and sites such as Al-Maliha and Wadi Al-Atroun in North Darfur State, and Al-Raheb in Northern State.
