The Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held official talks on Monday at Al-Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo.

The Sovereignty Council said in a statement seen by Darfur 24 that the talks addressed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and Egypt’s contribution to the reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in Sudan following the war.

He explained that the talks touched on joint projects, such as electrical interconnection, railways, trade exchange, and cooperation in the fields of health, agriculture, industry, and mining.

According to the statement, the talks also discussed the progress made by the armed forces in regaining control of the capital, Khartoum. Both sides agreed on the need to intensify efforts to provide the necessary support and assistance to Sudanese residing in war zones.

He stated that the talks witnessed an exchange of views on current regional situations, particularly in the Nile Basin and the Horn of Africa. It was agreed to continue coordination and joint action to maintain water security for both countries.

Participating in the talks were Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hussein Al-Amin; Director of the General Intelligence Service, Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal; Director of the Intelligence Service, Mohamed Ali Sabir; and Sudan’s Ambassador to Egypt, Ambassador Emad El-Din Adawi.
