Delegations from the Sudanese Rizeigat tribe and the South Sudanese Dinka Malual tribe concluded a conference on peaceful coexistence between the two neighboring tribes on the border of the two countries.
The conference was held in the city of Namlel, under the auspices of the State of South Sudan, and attended by the Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal Province, Obor Ajonga Mawut.
The mayor and member of the Rizeigat delegation, Jalota Qadim Al-Tahir, told Darfur 24 that the conference discussed addressing the challenges facing the Joint Peace Committee, particularly the issues of theft and blood money between the two parties, and the importance of finding solutions.
He expected the conference to contribute to reducing friction between the Rizeigat and Dinka Malual communities on the border strip between East Darfur State and South Sudan.
He pointed out that the Rizeigat delegation, which included 25 mayors headed by the Rizeigat General Nazir, Mahmoud Musa Madibo, returned to El Daein in East Darfur State on Saturday.
For his part, the Director General of the Ministry of Peacebuilding in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, Peter Tong Garang, explained in press statements that the conference focused on discussing the issue of livestock migration and its effects, as it precedes and follows the period of livestock migration from South Sudan to Sudan and vice versa.
He pointed out that the conference brought together members of the Rizeigat community in East Darfur State and the Dinka Malual communities, even from Aweil North, West, and Central Counties in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State. Gazelle in South Sudan.
Tong stated that the conference discussed pressing issues shared by these border communities, including peaceful coexistence, cattle rustling, and unresolved issues over the past year, in addition to renewing the mandate of the current committee, which has expired.
This conference is held annually in South Sudan to discuss peaceful coexistence in the natural pastures between the Dinka Malual and Rizeigat.
