The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, on Monday appointed Salma Abdel-Jabbar and Nawara Abu Mohammed Mohamed Taher as members of the Sovereignty Council, and Kamil Idris as Prime Minister.
This is the first time a prime minister has been appointed in Sudan since the coup carried out by Al-Burhan against the civilian government on October 25, 2021.
On July 5, 2022, Al-Burhan dismissed Salma Abdel-Jabbar from the Sovereignty Council, along with others who had been appointed after the October 25 coup.
Al-Burhan issued a constitutional decree on Monday appointing Salma Abdel-Jabbar Al-Mubarak and Nawara Abu Mohammed Taher as members of the Sovereignty Council.
The decree directed the General Secretariat of the Sovereignty Council and relevant state authorities to implement it.
Al-Burhan also issued a second constitutional decree appointing Kamel El-Tayeb Idris Abdel Hafeez as prime minister.
