The Sudanese Agency for Relief and Humanitarian Operations(SARHO) in West Darfur State imposed a package of new measures and controls on Saturday to reduce the risks facing foreign organizations operating in the region.

Last June, a team of employees, including foreigners working for the French organization (Handicap), was involved in an incident in West Darfur State.

West Darfur state also witnessed the killing of a driver for the (Concern) organization, in addition to the looting of citizens’ money and property by unknown gunmen.

The agency stated, in a statement addressed to foreign and national organizations operating in West Darfur, that in the context of controlling movement and reducing incidents and security risks, organizations are prohibited from traveling after 5:00 PM.

The statement stipulates that foreign employees are prohibited from entering or exiting West Darfur across the border during official holidays.

It also emphasized that no organization is permitted to meet with the head of the civil administration except through prior coordination with the Sudanese agency.

West Darfur State relies primarily on foreign organizations to provide basic services and humanitarian aid to all those in need.
