Ad-Dabba, July 28(Darfur 24)
Four internally displaced people IDPs were killed and 23 others injured in roas accident on Sunday while they were traveling from El Fasher, North Darfur, to Ad-Dabba in Northern State.
The Humanitarian Aid Commissioner in Ad-Dabba locality, Kawthar Gilly, said in a press statement that the accident occurred at the western gate of the Amtar Company project, where a truck carrying the displaced people overturned, resulting in the death of four people and the injury of 23 others.
Gilli explained that the injured were transported to Ad-Dabba and Merowe hospitals for medical care, while the funerals and burials of the dead took place in the Ad-Dabba cemetery in the presence of the locality’s executive director, a number of security officials, and crowds of citizens.
The city of Ad-Dabba and several towns in Northern State are hosting thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) fleeing El Fasher and Zamzam camp due to the ongoing fighting in the city and the siege imposed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since April of last year.
The RSF is attempting to seize control of El Fasher, the last stronghold of the army in Darfur, after seizing control of armed forces bases in Nyala, Zalingei, El Geneina, and El Daein in 2023.
