Approximately five people were killed in renewed clashes between the Sudanese army( SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Thursday in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, according to eyewitnesses.
Eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 that the city witnessed intermittent clashes between the SAF and the RSF using light and heavy weapons in the southern and northwestern axis of El Fasher.
A number of citizens reported to Darfur 24 that at least five civilians were killed in the exchange of artillery shelling in the Abu Shouk al-Hilla neighborhood and the Abu Shouk camp for displaced persons, in addition to six others who were injured and transferred to the Saudi Hospital and the Medical Corps.
A health source at the Saudi Hospital confirmed to Darfur 24 that several casualties were received on Thursday, including civilians, but their numbers were not disclosed.
The command of the 6th Infantry Division stated on its Facebook page that it had repelled attacks by RSF on the southern and northwestern axis, inflicting casualties and equipment losses.
There has been no official comment from the Rapid Support Forces regarding the renewed clashes in El Fasher.
RSF have been launching continuous attacks on El Fasher since May 10, 2024 in an attempt to seize the last stronghold of the Sudanese army in the Darfur region.
