The Egyptian government announced its full support for efforts aimed at preserving Sudanese state institutions, while rejecting any threat to Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity. The two sides also agreed to strengthen bilateral relations.
This came following the visit of Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris to Egypt, heading a high-level delegation that included the ministers of foreign affairs, culture, information, and tourism.
Idris held an official session of talks that addressed the frameworks and projects for cooperation between the two countries in the upcoming period. Ministers from both sides also held bilateral meetings to discuss proposals and detailed programs for cooperation between their counterpart ministries, according to the joint statement.
According to the statement , the Egyptian side renewed its full support for the Sudanese government and all efforts aimed at preserving its national institutions and rejecting any threat to its unity and territorial integrity.
The Sudanese side also expressed its aspiration and readiness to work together to serve the goals of strengthening the relationship and taking it to broader horizons.
The two sides discussed developing cooperation in the field of investment and the opportunities available to Egyptian companies to invest in a number of areas of strategic importance to Sudan, especially as it anticipates the reconstruction phase.
The Sudanese side also expressed its aspiration to enhance cooperation in the field of disease control, increase the number of specialized Egyptian medical convoys, and provide programs to support the capabilities of Sudanese health personnel, thus enhancing the process of rebuilding the health sector in Sudan.
The two sides agreed that the relevant authorities in both countries would consult to formulate a memorandum of understanding on the registration of Egyptian medicines in Sudan.”
The statement also referred to discussing regional security issues and ways to enhance and sustain them. Both sides emphasized the need for sustained coordination and consultation on various issues related to regional security, particularly in the Red Sea region.
