On Sunday, the Rapid Support Forces( RSF ) carried out a large-scale arrest campaign, described as the first of its kind, against prominent leaders of the dissolved National Congress Party (NCP), in the town of Adila, East Darfur State.
Eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 that a force of approximately twenty combat vehicles carried out the arrest campaign on Sunday evening, arresting more than (30) figures of the dissolved National Congress Party (NCP), including leaders who held constitutional and organizational positions, as well as those from the youth and student sectors.
They indicated that among the most prominent detainees included former Commissioner Mohamed Mahmoud El-Sherif, former deputy chairman of NCP, Mohamed Ahmed Hamed, former Member of Parliament Mohamed Mahmoud Hassan, and the head of the party’s student sector, Youssef El-Bishra.
They reported that the detainees were immediately transferred to areas outside the city.
Witnesses explained that the Rapid Support Forces’ intelligence service restricted the operation of internet communication centers and deployed personnel to monitor them.
A Rapid Support Forces commander told Darfur 24 that the leaders arrested in Adila were engaged in political activity and had contact with leaders of the NCP regime in Khartoum and Port Sudan.
