The European Union’s Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, Annette Weber, held talks on Wednesday with Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander and President of the Sudan Founding Alliance, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti,” on ways to enhance civilian protection in Sudan, particularly in El Fasher.

In a post on X, Weber said the EU remains focused on Sudan and El Fasher, stressing that “restraint and finding solutions in the interest of the Sudanese people are essential.” She added that she had conveyed to Hemedti the EU’s push for “concrete steps to protect civilians” in line with its initiative to safeguard critical infrastructure.

According to RSF media, the discussions also touched on humanitarian aid coordination and the provision of basic services, including electricity and water, which Hemedti described as vital for alleviating human suffering and laying the groundwork for peace and stability.
