El Fasher, September 29 (Darfur24)

Military sources in the border town of Tina, North Darfur, said the Sudanese army and the joint force of armed movements have raised their alert level following reports of large Rapid Support Forces (RSF) mobilizations in nearby areas.

Sources claimed that RSF fighters have gathered in Jebel Hattana, southwest of Tina, and in Kutum, northwest of El Fasher, in preparation for an attack on Tina and the town of Karnoi.

A military source told Darfur24 that confirmed intelligence suggests the RSF plans to launch an offensive on Tina and Karnoi, about 200 kilometers northwest of El Fasher, this week. He added that the RSF has deployed vehicles and fighters in Jebel Hattana, between Jirjira and Kulbus, 50 kilometers from Tina.

Another source said the army carried out drone strikes on Saturday targeting RSF-allied armed groups in Bir Mazza and western Wadi Hawr.

Eyewitnesses and local sources in Kutum, 136 kilometers northwest of El Fasher, also reported RSF military preparations since Thursday, pointing to an imminent attack on Karnoi with support from allied groups.

The army and the joint force are stationed in several strategic areas of North Darfur, including Tina, Karnoi, and Umm Baru.
