Nyala, October 7 (Darfur24)

Residents and local sources in Nyala reported on Monday that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched wide-scale arrests last Tuesday and Wednesday, targeting members of the army, police, and the General Intelligence Service.

The wife of one of the detainees told Darfur24 that a group of RSF members arrived at their home in the Al-Salam neighborhood on Wednesday morning and arrested her husband, taking him to the military police headquarters in central Nyala.

She explained that her husband had been serving with the police and later registered with the RSF following the fall of the army headquarters in Nyala. She said the family was surprised by his sudden arrest, which took place without any clear reason.

Eyewitnesses and local sources reported that RSF personnel raided several homes belonging to police and army members in the Karari, Sekka Hadid, and Wahda neighborhoods during the two-day campaign. Some of the detainees were taken to the military police headquarters and the Nyala Stock Exchange, while others were transferred to Dagris Prison.

Darfur24 obtained the names of six detainees: Suleiman Idris, Abdullah Adam, Abdel Razek Abdullah, Khaled Al-Nour Ishaq, Al-Hajj Ahmed Issa, and Osman Ahmed.

Two sources told Darfur24 that the RSF also arrested 20 police officers from Mershing locality, in addition to several personnel from Bilil locality. They were transferred to Dagris Prison, west of Nyala, on Saturday and Sunday, and remain in detention.

Meanwhile, a military source within the RSF stated that all previously identified regular forces had relocated to El Fasher and other army-controlled areas in central and northern Sudan. He added that some of these soldiers later returned to Nyala after participating in fighting in El Fasher, despite pledging not to carry out any actions against the RSF while remaining in areas under its control.
