Khartoum, October 14 (Darfur24)
A new investigation by the Sudan Human Rights Hub (SHRH) has uncovered evidence of a disturbing pattern of indiscriminate, disproportionate, and systematic aerial attacks on civilians by both the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The report, which examines airstrikes and drone attacks carried out between October 2024 and September 2025, documents verified, evidence-based cases that SHRH says could stand up in court. The documented attacks targeted hospitals, mosques, markets, displacement camps, residential areas, and other civilian infrastructure.
One of the deadliest incidents occurred in El Fasher, where an RSF drone strike hit a mosque during worship, killing 75 displaced civilians. In June 2025, a SAF airstrike destroyed the only functional hospital in Mujlad, Western Kordofan, killing more than 40 civilians, including children and medical staff.
Other incidents detailed in the report include: RSF shelling of Sabreen Market in Omdurman, killing 56 people, a drone strike on a displacement camp near Atbara, killing 11 civilians, repeated SAF bombardment of residential areas in Nyala, South Darfur.
“These are not isolated attacks, they show a consistent disregard for civilian life,” the report states. SHRH warns that many of the strikes could amount to war crimes or crimes against humanity.
The report calls for stronger international accountability, full enforcement of the arms embargo in Darfur, and urgent action to protect civilians and ensure humanitarian access.
