Al Daein, October 25 (Darfur24)

Health authorities in East Darfur State have launched a six-day vaccination campaign for children under the age of five, following months of suspension due to the ongoing war. The campaign covers all nine localities of the state with support and coordination from the Alite organization.

Mohammed Joda Benio, Director of the Expanded Program on Immunization, told Darfur24 that the Ministry of Health, in partnership with humanitarian organizations, has managed to resume routine immunization activities after repeated interruptions caused by the conflict.

He explained that the campaign targets 60,353 children aged from birth to 59 months through fixed, temporary, and mobile vaccination centers across the state.

Joda said the effort focuses on children who missed vaccinations during the war as well as those under one year of age, in order to improve coverage and strengthen routine immunization services.

He urged all families to ensure their children receive the catch-up vaccinations to protect them from preventable diseases.

East Darfur has been severely affected by the collapse of medical and health services since the war began, leading to a sharp decline in vaccination coverage among children.
