El Fasher, November 3 (Darfur24)

The United Nations’ International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported a sharp increase in displacement across several Sudanese states, including South Kordofan, North Kordofan, and North Darfur, due to escalating insecurity and intensified drone attacks.

In a statement obtained by Darfur24, the IOM estimated that 360 people were displaced from South Kordofan State following renewed drone strikes targeting several cities. The organization said that 180 people fled from Al-Abbasiya and another 180 from Dalami, with most heading toward areas within Dalami locality and Tendelti in White Nile State.

In North Kordofan State, the IOM reported that about 1,205 people were displaced from the Bara and Umm Ruwaba localities on October 31, as insecurity worsened. According to the report, around 580 people fled from the villages of Al-Awja, Al-Azhaf, and Wad Surur in Bara, while another 625 were displaced from Abu Qarin, Abyiya, Al-Barsa, Umm Jannas, Al-Rahmaniya, Umm Jazeera, and Sharqila in Umm Ruwaba.

The displaced populations reportedly moved toward Sheikan locality in North Kordofan, and to Al-Duwaim, Tendelti, Kosti, and Rabak in White Nile State.

The organization noted that these incidents are part of a broader pattern of displacement across Bara, Sheikan, Al-Rahad, Umm Ruwaba, and Umm Dam Haj Ahmed, resulting in the displacement of approximately 36,825 people between October 26 and 31, 2025.

Meanwhile, in North Darfur, the IOM confirmed that civilians continue to flee El Fasher following its capture by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) last week.

According to the IOM, an estimated 8,631 people were displaced between November 1 and 2, 2025, due to ongoing clashes, bringing the total number of displaced individuals from El Fasher and nearby villages between October 26 and November 2 to 70,894.

Field teams reported severe insecurity on the roads, which has restricted movement and hampered humanitarian access, amid continued instability in the region.

The RSF seized the headquarters of the 6th Infantry Division in El Fasher after nearly a year and a half of siege, marking the fall of the Sudanese army’s last major stronghold in Darfur.
