Babanusa, November 4 (Darfur24)
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced on Tuesday that they had shot down an Ilyushin warplane belonging to the Sudanese army over the city of Babanusa in West Kordofan State.
In a statement, the RSF said the aircraft had carried out a series of airstrikes that killed dozens of civilians in Wad Banda, Ayal Bakhit, and the cities of Al-Fula and Babanusa.
The group also released videos showing what it described as the wreckage of the downed plane, with parts of it engulfed in flames.
According to the RSF statement, the Sudanese army’s warplanes targeted residential neighborhoods and markets, using missiles and barrel bombs, resulting in civilian casualties, including women, children, and the elderly.
The RSF called on the international community and human rights organizations to take action to hold those responsible accountable, and urged residents and legal authorities to pursue what it referred to as “the generals of Port Sudan” and leaders of the Islamic Movement organization.
