Dilling, November 7 (Darfur24)

Six civilians, including a child, were killed and 12 others injured on Thursday as a result of heavy artillery shelling that struck residential neighborhoods in the city of Dilling, South Kordofan State, according to the Sudanese Doctors Network.

In a statement, the network said the shelling was carried out by SPLM-N forces allied with the Rapid Support Forces, and targeted densely populated areas in addition to medical facilities providing services to civilians inside the city.

The network described the attack as a “war crime,” stressing that targeting civilians and health centers constitutes a clear violation of international humanitarian law. It called on international and human rights organizations to urgently intervene to document the violations and provide medical and humanitarian support, noting that Dilling has been under siege for more than two years and faces worsening humanitarian conditions.

In a related development, Mubarak Abdulrahman Ahmed “Ardoul,” a leader in the Democratic Alliance for Social Justice, said in a Facebook post that Dilling came under heavy artillery fire on Thursday morning by the Rapid Support Forces and allied groups, hitting neighborhoods hosting large numbers of displaced people.

He said the shelling caused civilian casualties, including the death of a child, while rescue efforts and casualty counts are still ongoing. He described the attack as a “crime against innocent civilians,” calling on regional and international actors to condemn the assault and work toward stopping such attacks.

Residents in South Kordofan say the region has witnessed an escalation in artillery and drone bombardment in recent weeks, amid growing concerns about deteriorating humanitarian conditions in besieged areas.
