Qardoud Nyama, December 2 (Darfur24)

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) announced on Monday that it had recaptured the Qardoud Nyama area, located in Al-Abbasiya Taqali locality, South Kordofan State.

On Sunday, Sudanese army forces briefly took control of several areas in Al-Abbasiya Taqali, including Qardoud Nyama, after intermittent clashes in the region.

In a statement, the SPLM-N said its forces managed to “fully recapture the Qardud Nyama area” following the army’s temporary occupation during their recent advance in South Kordofan localities.

The army’s 38th Infantry Brigade, advancing from Abu Karshola, fought fierce battles against SPLM-N forces on Saturday, November 29. The following day, they seized Qardud Nyama, Al-Damra, Tabsa, Al-Shawaya, Al-Jubailat, Al-Sanadra, and Julia, as part of military operations aimed at extending their influence over strategic locations in Taqali locality.

Last week, the Kartala area in Hebeila locality also witnessed intense clashes between the two sides, which, according to residents, left dozens of civilians dead or injured. The violence significantly increased displacement, with roads leading from the area crowded with fleeing residents.
