Local sources reported on Sunday that a patrol of Russian forces stationed in the Central African Republic (CAR ) stormed a weekly market in a town bordering Sudan, killing twelve Sudanese citizens and wounding five others.

The sources told Darfur24 that the attack occurred on Friday in the market of Kabo, a town on the Sudanese-Central African border, and was the first of its kind in the area.

They explained that a group of Sudanese nomads, cattle herders, were carrying their weapons inside the market when the Russian forces demanded they surrender them. When they refused, the forces opened fire, killing 12 people instantly and wounding five others.

Ahmed al-Tijani, a relative of one of the victims, told Darfur24 that the Russian forces carried out the attack using two troop transport vehicles, two armored fighting vehicles, and a drone for reconnaissance .

Russian Wagner forces, deployed in gold mines in central African Republic, continue to conduct intensive patrols along the border strip between Sudan and the Central African Republic, launching violent attacks on Sudanese nomadic communities inside Central African territory, resulting in dozens of deaths in recent times.
