Al-Tina, January 10 (Darfur24)

Multiple sources from the Sudanese border town of Al-Tina reported on Friday that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have taken control of the town of Jarjira, located approximately 30 kilometers south of Al-Tina, following heavy fighting with joint forces aligned with the Sudanese army.

Videos published by RSF members and verified by Darfur24 show RSF fighters entering the town.

A senior military source in the Sudanese army told Darfur24 that large RSF units, backed by groups from the Sudan Liberation Forces Alliance led by Al-Tahir Hajar, launched an attack on Jarjira on Friday. The assault reportedly forced the joint force of the armed movements and the Sudanese army to withdraw from the town toward Al-Tina.

The source added that the RSF employed drone-jamming defensive systems, neutralizing repeated army drone strikes carried out in recent weeks.

Another source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that joint forces retreated toward the Sudan-Chad border area following a two-directional RSF assault. The source predicted that RSF forces may advance toward Al-Tina in the coming days in an attempt to seize the town.

Karnoi, Ambro, and the border city of Al-Tina remain the last major strongholds held by the Sudanese army and allied joint forces in Darfur. Most of the region has fallen under RSF control and allied groups, including the capture of El-Fasher last October.

Meanwhile, the Jebel Marra and Tawila localities in North Darfur remain under the control of the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdul Wahid Mohamed Nour.
