Al-Tina, January 12 (Darfur24)

Multiple sources in the Sudanese border town of Al-Tina reported on Saturday that the joint force of armed movements, backed by the Sudanese army, has recaptured the city of Jarjira, a day after it was seized by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Jarjira is located about 30 kilometers south of Al-Tina.

Videos published by joint force fighters and verified by Darfur24 show their presence in front of a government building in Jarjira following the operation.

A military source in the Sudanese army told Darfur24 that joint forces launched a counterattack against the RSF under drone cover, inflicting heavy losses, particularly in vehicles.

The source stated that large numbers of fighters were mobilized, including the Popular Resistance and the Sudanese Alliance, who advanced on Jarjira late Friday and successfully regained control of the town.

Another joint force source confirmed to Darfur24 that their fighters are currently deployed inside Jarjira.

Meanwhile, RSF fighters released a video claiming control of the town of Mastoura in North Darfur on Saturday, following their entry into Jarjira a day earlier.

Karnoi, Ambro, and the border city of Al-Tina remain the last major strongholds of the Sudanese army and allied joint forces in Darfur, after the RSF and affiliated groups took control of most of the region, including the capture of Al-Fashir last October.

Jebel Marra and Tawila localities in North Darfur remain under the control of the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdul Wahid Mohamed Nour.
