Kadugli, January 19 (Darfur24)
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported on Monday that displacement from the cities of Kadugli and Dilling in South Kordofan State is continuing due to deteriorating security conditions.
Ongoing threats by a movement allied with the Rapid Support Forces to launch ground attacks on Dilling and Kadugli have sparked fear and panic among civilians, prompting some residents to flee their homes in search of safer areas.
In a statement obtained by Darfur24, the organization said that between January 15 and 17, at least 360 people were displaced from Dilling due to escalating insecurity. The displaced families moved toward locations in White Nile State, while the situation in the area remains tense and rapidly evolving.
During the same period, 215 people were displaced from Kadugli as a result of worsening security conditions, the statement added.
In November 2025, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) Famine Review Commission declared famine in Kadugli, while Dilling was also experiencing severe food insecurity.
Both cities remain under prolonged siege by the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N), led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu.
