Al-Tina, February 09 (Darfur24)

Two people were killed and several others injured on Sunday in a drone strike on the border town of Al-Tina near Chad, marking the second consecutive day of aerial attacks, according to three local sources.

A military source with the army in Al-Tina told Darfur24 that a drone believed to belong to the Rapid Support Forces struck a water truck supplying soldiers, as well as other locations inside the town, sending thick smoke into the sky. He said the attack killed at least two people and wounded several soldiers, who were taken to a health center north of Al-Tina for treatment.

A volunteer in the area told Darfur24 that hundreds of residents fled to refugee camps in Chad following Friday’s bombing, which killed 10 civilians and injured 15 others. Some of the wounded remain in critical condition and are receiving treatment at Mabrouka Hospital inside Chadian territory.

The volunteer added that other displaced families are sheltering in valleys under difficult humanitarian conditions, with urgent needs for water and relief assistance.

Doctors Without Borders previously reported that 10 people were killed and 25 injured in two drone attacks targeting Al-Tina on Friday. Last week, four people were killed, and more than 10 were injured in a separate drone strike on a commercial convoy along the road linking Al-Tina and the town of Farouk, northwest of Kutum.

Karnoi, Ambro, and the border town of Al-Tina remain among the last areas in Darfur held by the Sudanese army and allied joint forces, after the Rapid Support Forces and allied groups captured most major towns in the region, including El Fasher last October.
